Fists
When you’re out of options or just want to get personal, nothing beats the old-fashioned way: two fists and a lot of anger.
The Fists are the default melee weapon in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. While they may lack the range or power of other melee Weapons, fists are always available and can be surprisingly effective in close-quarters combat, especially when combined with quick reflexes. Players can use their fists to deliver punches, jabs, and powerful strikes to incapacitate enemies without the need for any equipment.
Weapon Overview
Design
As the most basic of all melee options, fists allow players to engage in hand-to-hand combat with a straightforward punching mechanic. The design is, of course, simple: it’s just the player’s hands balled into fists, ready to throw punches. While the fists don’t offer any customization, they are the most accessible and immediate combat option available to players.
Performance
The Fists are the weakest melee weapon in the game, but they can still be used effectively in certain situations. They offer a quick and reliable way to engage enemies in hand-to-hand combat, especially when stealth or limited resources are factors. In GTA V, punching is often used to knock out NPCs or start brawls, with stronger punches available when charging an attack. Fists are also used to perform takedowns during stealth Missions.
Customization
The Fists, being a natural weapon, cannot be customized or upgraded. However, players can enhance their effectiveness through character stats such as strength, increasing the damage dealt with each punch.
Locations
The Fists are available to all players by default in both GTA V and GTA Online.
- Fists are automatically available to players when no other melee weapon is selected.
- They are useful in a pinch when out of ammunition or other Weapons.
Trivia
- In GTA Online, fistfights are a common way to engage in friendly (or not-so-friendly) brawls with other players.
- Punching NPCs can be an effective way to cause mayhem without immediately attracting police attention.
- Increasing a player’s Strength stat makes fists more effective, allowing players to knock out enemies faster.
- Performing stealth takedowns with fists is often silent and ideal for certain Missions.
- In some Missions, unarmed combat is necessary when other Weapons are unavailable.
