About Strangers & Freaks

Strangers and Freaks is the official Rockstar name for GTA V's optional side-mission category โ€” a 20-strand collection of self-contained mini-storylines delivered by 14 eccentric NPCs scattered across San Andreas. Each Stranger is marked on the map with a question mark (?) icon once their introduction trigger is hit, and completing every strand is required for 100% game completion.

The roster splits roughly between comic relief, cult-and-conspiracy weirdness, and genuine character drama. Maude Eccles runs the four bail-bond bounty hunts; Nigel and Mrs. Thornhill (the celebrity-stalker tourists) chase eight pieces of Vinewood memorabilia; Cletus Ewing teaches Trevor the hunting tutorial; Omega's Far Out strand has Franklin collecting all 50 spaceship parts; the Epsilon Program puts Michael through five increasingly absurd cult initiation tasks ($30,000+ in donations included).

Side strands run parallel to the main story and many have unique rewards โ€” the Space Docker buggy for completing Far Out, the Kifflom! achievement for surviving the Epsilon Program, the Red Mist trophy for Trevor's five rampages, and the Marabunta Rebel for Nigel's last delivery. Several Strangers' arcs intersect with the main campaign indirectly (Tonya Wiggins's tow-truck strand sets up Lamar's early relationship with Franklin, and Beverly's paparazzo work is a parody of celebrity culture).
