Grand Theft Auto V packs 16 distinct collectible hunts across the map — none of them marked on the in-game map until you stumble onto one, all of them tied to either a unique reward, an achievement, or a piece of the Chiliad Mystery lore. Completing every hunt is a prerequisite for the 100% completion Career Criminal achievement.

Spaceship Parts is the largest hunt — 50 alien craft fragments scattered from the ocean floor to the top of Mount Chiliad, collected for the conspiracy-theorist Stranger Omega during his Far Out side-mission strand. Returning every part unlocks the Space Docker — a custom buggy with green neon — and the From Beyond the Stars achievement.

Letter Scraps are the murder-mystery hunt — 50 torn pieces of a single confession letter that, when reassembled, identify the killer of a Vinewood actress whose body sits at the bottom of the Pacific. Completing the hunt earns $50,000 and the A Mystery, Solved achievement.

The weapon treasure hunts are three multi-stage clue chains, each unlocking a unique sidearm tied to cross-promotion with Red Dead Redemption 2. The Navy Revolver and Double-Action Revolver both reward an in-game pistol plus an unlock in the player's Red Dead Online character if linked via Rockstar Social Club. The Stone Hatchet hunt rewards a special melee weapon plus the "Head Hunter" GTA Online bonus.

Peyote Plants are the strangest mechanic in the game — 27 desert cacti scattered around Blaine County that, when consumed, trigger a hallucination sequence transforming the protagonist into one of 14 different animals (cougar, deer, chimp, dolphin, eagle, hen, hawk, sasquatch and more). A golden 28th plant in Cassidy Creek transforms the player into Bigfoot.

Rampages are five Trevor-only scripted carnage missions — kill a target number of Ballas, Vagos, military, rednecks or hipsters within a time limit. Completing all five earns the Red Mist achievement. The five rampages are scattered across the map — three in Los Santos, two in Blaine County.

Several other hunts round out the picture — 50 monkey mosaics spray-painted across the city for the Mr. Raspberry Jam sub-quest; 12 underwater hidden packages containing cash and weapons; 30 submarine pieces for Abigail Mathers's strand (rewards the Kraken submersible); and 10 Epsilon Tracts that must be collected before Michael can join the Epsilon Program cult.

GTA Online adds three more major hunts — 100 action figures across Los Santos (Princess Robot Bubblegum tie-in), 54 playing cards (full deck plus two jokers, scattered across interiors), and 10 movie props from Solomon Richards's Vinewood Studios collection.
